This is an interesting video interview with Gary Wong, founder of Tudou (a Chinese equivalent of YouTube). He discusses web users in China and their current preferences.

With 30% of video views in China now coming from mobile devices, Wong also considers the ways in which companies such as his own can make money online in China and the challenges they face.

With Western companies such as Facebook and YouTube currently facing similar issues, it will be interesting to see if there will be similarities in the solutions they develop on opposite sides of the world.

Its interesting that to succeed they have to make sure the user experience via mobile devices is efficient and ascetically pleasing. It really shows the strength of the smart phone movement.

25% of the global views on YouTube is via mobile devices. China obviously have a strong smartphone market, which is backed up by the fact that the Chinese market has just overtaken the US smartphone market. What is interesting though is that Apple is 5th in the smartphone market. The dominant player in the Chinese smart phone market is Samsung.
